چکیده

Motion perception is one of the mod important aspect of the biological visual system, @om which we get a lot of infort?tation of the natural world. From the physiological and anatomical study on biological vision system, it is shown tliat the perception of two dimentional (20) t?rotion is in two steps: one dimentional (ID) motion detection arid I D motion information fusion. This paper we pay attention on the j r s t step. Trying to simulate the neurons in MT (motion area in visual cortex) who respond selectively both in direction and speed, we propose a novel multiplicative inhibitory velocity detector (MIYD) model, whose spatiotemporal joint pararrreter K determines its optimal velocity. Based on the Response Amplitude Disparity (RAD) property of A4Il/ll, we construct the ID motion detection layer as a mtrW-veloci ty motion percetron layer, using MIVD(K) as its perceptron.

Recurrent linear threshold network integrates sequence selectivity and multiplicative gain modulation

Selectivity for temporal sequences is important for several visual functions. It has been proposed that selectivity for motion direction might depend on sequence-selective neural circuits [Hassenstein and Reichardt, 1956]. More importantly, for higher visual functions, e.g. action recognition, the detection of sequences of visual patterns is one of the fundamental computational operations [Gies...

A Block-Based Motion Estimator Capable of Handling Occlusions

We present a new block-based motion estimation strategy, which aims a t correctly finding the velocity of picture blocks, even for background blocks in occlusion areas. This tritemporal ME calculates the motion between two pictures, switching the ME reference plane dependent on an occlu.sion detector. \lie also introduce a retimer, which can transform, locally in the picture, motion vectors val...

Correlation versus gradient type motion detectors : the pros and cons Published online

Visual motion contains a wealth of information about self-motion as well as the three-dimensional structure of the environment. Therefore, it is of utmost importance for any organism with eyes. However, visual motion information is not explicitly represented at the photoreceptor level, but rather has to be computed by the nervous system from the changing retinal images as one of the first proce...

Non-linear Watermark Detector Embedded in Fourier Domain

This paper deals with the statistical analysis of the behavior of a blind copyright protection watermarking system based on pseudorandom signals embedded in the magnitude of the Fourier transform of the host data. The data can be either one-dimensional (sound), two dimensional (image) or three dimensional (video, 3d volumes). The detector scheme does not depend on the host data dimension. The a...

Optimal Detector for Multiplicative Watermarks Embedded in the DFT Domain of Non-White Signals

This paper deals with the statistical analysis of the behavior of a blind robust watermarking system based on pseudorandom signals embedded in the magnitude of the Fourier transform of the host data. The host data that the watermark is embedded into is one-dimensional and non-white, following a specific probability model. The analysis performed involves theoretical evaluation of the statistics ...
